Using the dinghy.

After seeing flagstaffs used as grab rails by crew exiting dinghies. I have a rule that when the dinghy is being used at the stern of the yacht the flagstaff is always removed.

This will save you from spending hours reshaping the end of the pole after it has snapped off yet again.
